FLOAT GLASS: Taking its name from the manufacturing process used to make it. Molten glass is 'floated' onto a bed of tin to ensure a glass sheet is flat and distortion free. Available in all sizes from 4mm right up to 30mm (n.b depeneding on the application, glass over 8mm thick is often toughened or laminated)

PATTERNED GLASS: We are stockist of Pilkington’s patterned and textured glass ranges which are available in 4mm and 6mm. All patterns can be toughened. Please click here to view our patterned glass range.

TOUGHENED GLASS: Toughened glass is a safety glass that has been through a heating & cooling process that increases it’s strength. It is commonly used for glazed doors, low level windows (below 800mm) tabletops and glass shelving. It is important to remember that once glass has been toughened, it is impossible to cut it as the glass will shatter. Toughened glass is made to order and delivered to us daily.

LAMINATED GLASS: Laminated safety glass is quite literally 2 sheets of glass that are "laminated" together using a special interlayer. This interlayer is designed to hold the glass in place if it cracks, making it harder to break through. Commonly used in shop windows, schools and hospitals. It is available in 4.4mm, 6.4mm, 8.8mm and 10.8mm, with thicker pieces made to order.

WIRED GLASS: Available in clear or obscured it has a wire mesh in the centre which helps increase its strength. Commonly used in fire doors that require glazing but still need to retain its fire-proofing properties. Clear wired glass is 6mm thick, and obscured is 7mm thick.

PICTURE GLASS: Picture glass is a 2mm non-reflective glass which helps prevent reflections and glares from spoiling your pictures and photographs. It's high transparency but low reflective properties reduce glares & reflections. Being only 2mm it is also very light, making it ideal for hanging pictures.

GREENHOUSE GLASS: Greenhouse glass is a budget range of glass which is highly suited to horticultural applications. It is 3mm thick and comes in 3 standard sizes : 610mm x 457mm, 610mm x 610mm, and 730mm x 1422mm. These standard sizes fit most off-the-shelf greenhouses, but can be cut to any size you require. We also stock greenhouse clips for fitting.

As there are so many different types of glass available to us, it is not possible to list them all. If you are in need of anything not listed above please contact us...
